So we are all on the same page –

Moving Difference kicked off with a bang yesterday – 249 hours!

This is incredible! Amazing and mind-blowing!!

This is 249 hours of you, wonderful people stepping up and making a moving difference.

Your time is a precious resource. Very precious.

Moving Difference is the time of you, your friends & family, your neighbors and even your co-workers.

I want to make sure that you know that I know it is all about each of you.

I say you universally in the sense that you all are part of this world.

This is your achievement, your sweat and your drive to make a difference.

Moving Difference can’t be done without you.

Moving Difference is your passion and the world’s benefit.

I humbly submit that I am a small passenger on this journey, very small.  I am thankful that you all allow me to be part of this amazing journey called Moving Difference. I am grateful for the moments, the laughs, every email, every call and every moment that I spend working on it.

With that I need to let you all know that Moving Difference did 178 hours today – bringing the grand total to 427 hours in two days – There are plenty of emails to read and post and it will happen. Going to let everybody know the hours total on a weekly basis now since there are just a lot of happy emails to read and process into numbers. But I will take care of that, you just keep being you and know that I am extremely thankful.

            Peace to All!!

First Sunset of Moving Difference

An idea that was first written on a burrito napkin has now become reality.

Today was the day that Moving Difference kicked off, the first day of summer and the first day of the simple concept of moving and making a difference.

There are hundreds of emails to go thru, people reporting their hours and people asking tons of questions – I promise I am going to read them all and report the hours on the Facebook site and of course here.

83.33 people (friends and family) doing 12 hours over a summer, 1000 hours was all I was hoping for. Now I am thinking I won’t be surprised if Moving Difference hits 10k in hours from all over the world at the end of the summer.

Just today alone – I have emails reports in of over 55 hours of Moving Difference achieved inAustin,Texas– that is pretty amazing and some other good things happening too.

All together for the entire project across the world, it is about 154 hours of Moving Difference right now*** – and that all the read emails/voice messages so far – I still have about 200 emails to look at yet tonight and I am sure the total number is going up! That is the FIRST DAY !!

*** – Writer’s note – it took until roughly past 3a.m., but all emails were read and reported – Total number was 249 hours of Moving Difference..on its first day.

I am impressed! I am shocked! I am grateful! I even cried tears of joy!

Amongst the busy first day of Moving Difference, I did my first hour of Moving Difference. Making balloon animals at a local children’s hospital. My giraffes didn’t look right and my dogs were a bit too big but the kids had fun being critics of the unique world that is the art of balloon animals. Nothing makes you humble like a kid laughing at your attempts to make a poodle and it comes out looking like a pink digestion track with legs. Hey it is my first public attempt at balloon animaling… laughter is good medicine for those kids even though my pride was hurt!! *sniff sniff – smile*

I am still so thankful for the people doing this project – this is a great start!

I want you to know that Moving Difference is because of some really great people – you and your friends & family. It is amazing and wonderful to think that there are people like you out there.

This is the first of one many sunsets on this project

I’m looking forward to the big sunset on September 21, when no matter where in the world we live we stop and all watch that sunset together and enjoy an amazing summer of moving and making a difference together!!

I can’t say it enough – thank you.

I really thank you all for being part of Moving Difference. I am looking forward to the rest of the summer and looking forward to having more people join in this really amazing movement of moving and making a difference.

From the bottom of my heart – thank you for being amazing people! Thank you for being a Moving Difference.

All my respect and love,

Jeny

Tomorrow starts it!

Hey Everybody, I know what you are thinking – tomorrow is June 20 and you just can’t wait to start Moving Difference.

Okay – maybe that is how I feel and I am thinking it is going to be great…

This is going to be a short blog – because tomorrow is going to rock n’ roll

and I still have a lot of emails to reply back to tonight. Because I want everybody to have the information they need to start the summer right!!

So as the day ends – please politely bid ado to spring –

and tomorrow bounce out of bed saying – LOOK OUT WORLD – I’M ON A MISSION TO MAKE A MOVING DIFFERENCE!!

See you on the first day of summer!!

Reframing the Thinking

I LOVE my life! Really, I do.

My goal is to live my life until my last breath loving everything in it; I love doing everything I can do make a difference in this world.

I love my love, my family, my friends and all the people that I come into contact with. I love Moving Difference and all the projects that have come before it and the others coming in the future. I love bad movies. I love throwing popcorn.

I love long walks on the beach too. I love sushi. I love all the places I have lived for one reason or another. I love silly dollar store toys. I love a good cause. I love a child’s smile. I love sappy songs. I love pina coladas and getting lost in the rain. I love laughter!

This isn’t a newspaper personal ad though. This is my life. This is who I am.

I love with all my heart and do with my entire mind, body and soul. Every ounce, every breath, every moment.

Okay, you probably are getting that I love a lot and do a lot. And yes I do both. I find that I love more when I think I can’t love it one drop more. I find the same thing happening when doing projects. There have been heartaches, headaches and times that I want to walk away, but I never stopped my love or my ability to do it. I am always working hard and always wanting the best out of life. There is nothing wrong with living life as full as possible. We are all on borrowed time here.

I have been told that my passion, zeal, let’s go, full-throttle and love it/do it attitude drives a few people crazy.  Since starting Moving Difference, there have been a few more emails and conversations about slowing down, not doing so much, not getting so excited, “just another project” and other general negative excuses about not doing the Moving Difference project. Poop on them!

Well, I am going to just deal with these bad vibes right here, right now.

Moving Difference Project is about loving the summer, loving making a difference for others and loving moving.

So it is time to reframe the thinking –

The questions are not “Who can be a difference?” & “Where do I find the time?”

but rather “Who will stop you and me from being a difference?”

I realize that some people might be shocked by this but there is a distinction, between excuses and reasoning, between whining and doing, between just here and living here.

I am not asking to you match my intensity or my love for Moving Difference;

I am asking you to join it.

Side by side.

Get your friends and family involved.

Get yourself involved.

Set aside the excuses, and look at the reasons to make a difference.

There are always excuses not to do something, but there is no reason not to make a difference!! We only live once & TV reruns will wait.

I know that you and I are able to make a difference in some way to our communities over this summer. I know it deep in my heart, and I know you know it too. I know that one hour of volunteering per week can change our lives. I know that I am going to be one of the LOUDEST fans of Moving Difference, right next to you.

I’m not stopping being me for anybody. I’m going to love and do until my last breath and beyond. I am doing everything I can to be a Moving Difference.

I have only just begun doing emails, posters, speaking at meetings & clubs, and even trying to do a friendly bet with a friend that might cause me to have my head shaved (if his team wins with the most volunteers hours!)  Going to the shelters, suiting up to clean a lake, showing up to work a first-aid tent, everything… and Moving Difference hasn’t even started yet. It is only going to get busier and bigger as the summer goes on!!

Yes – I am fired up in a sense but I also want to fire you up as well.

I am asking that you join me on Moving Difference project. I am asking that you and I join with our friends and family be that unstoppable movement of good things in our community. Send out to a few hundred emails to friends, corner your family (I have) into helping, post it on Facebook, tweet it twitter and blog about it.  Get the word out and then let’s do it. One hour per week all summer long being a Moving Difference.

So “Who will stop you and me from being a difference?” – I know my answer is no one not even me – I would really LOVE to have you and your friends & family doing the Moving Difference with us, but your answer is up to you.

The truth of the matter is simple. If today was my last day on this earth, I want to make sure that you know that I thought you were unstoppable too, that you were the greatest person in the world by getting out there & moving, and encourage you to go be that difference. You being you, your ability and potential as a caring human being in our communities are something that I love. I love it deeply. And it is for that reason that I do what I do, with you. I want you to know this even if it wasn’t my last day on earth!!

You deserve the best in life. You deserve to have people believe in you. You deserve to pursue and to be loved. And no matter what your answer is on joining Moving Difference Project, I always believe in you, your family and friends and in our communities. Just like the love of my life tells me every morning – “I love you and there is nothing you do about it! Ha!”

I CAN’T WAIT FOR SUMMER TO START!!!!!

            I AM SOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!

A Blast from the Past

Today (now yesterday and today at this point)  has been a bit busy – not complaining and I am hanging in there with the waves of emails and phone calls – all is groovy and going. Moving Difference is really starting to get – ironically – moving!

It is a really great to hear and chat with people wanting to help. I actually love that part the best. Someone who calls or emails and says “I am going to do Moving Difference, and I am interested in (insert group), can you help me find something?” and 10-15 minutes later, they are off going to help the world out. It is a great thrill!!

After a long day, I am still sitting here at my computer, 12:11a.m., replying to emails of people seeking information about Moving Difference, where they can help and other details that they need to make the project happen. Each one of these emails needs a human eye and a sincere reply to their questions. It is why Moving Difference is different; it is you and me and our friends & family. It is human. I realized that amongst everything of a normal day of my life, I have replied to over 1000+ emails and at least a 25+ phone calls. And there is still over 350+ emails unread to answer and my voicemail is full (I don’t have a clue as to how many calls it holds, but the phone says 34 missed calls).

This is a good day. It is a fulfilling day.

Then my phone rings – bear in mind, it is now 12:31 a.m. – it is an “unknown caller”.

‘Great’ I thought ‘Probably one of those scam calls’. I was going to let it go to voicemail, when I realized that my voicemail was full.

So I answer the phone “Hello?”

“Is this Jeny?” the deep voice says on the other end.

“Who is this please?” I said after all it is after midnight.

            “It’s Mike!”

Oh – I thought- that helps! I must know ten Mikes – Great- perfect – remain calm.

“Hi Mike, what can I do for you tonight?”

“You don’t know what Mike this is, do you?”

“No, I don’t. But I figure if you are calling me, I know you or at least of you, and many people don’t call after midnight, so what can I help you with?”

The reply was a great big deep laugh followed by “My gosh, Jeny you haven’t changed in twenty-five years, always helping strangers!”

I am still clueless, now getting laughed at and getting annoyed…

“Okay, who is this?” I asked firmly.

Another laugh – “It is Mike from the Cheyenne Frontier Days Pancake Feeds. Do you still wear that stupid looking red saddle coat?”

“Wholly cow! Mike! How did you get my number?”

“I got friends” followed by another deep laugh.

As we dove into a funny loving catching-up conversation, I realized that I had not spoken to Mike in more than twenty-five years and here we were chatting like old friends. Swapping tales of our lives since we last spoke – lost lives, found loves, horses, rodeo and hopes. Now talk about a blast from the past!

I asked after a while “Mike, why call me after all this time? Do you need something?”

“Jeny, I got this forwarded email this morning from a friend in Texas about Moving Difference, your little article. When I looked your picture, I swore I knew you. There is only one Jeny in the world I know. Dug out some of the old picture albums and found you much younger. I have a photo of you and I doing the Cheyenne Frontier Days pancake feed with that stupid red saddle coat.” Another laugh.

“Mike, don’t pick on the red saddle coat, it saved my skin more than once.” I said matter-of-factly.

Another laugh “Remember those pancake feeds?”

“Indeed I do, hours of flipping pancakes to feed lines and lines of people. Batter in those cement portable mixers, and July hot in Cheyenne and we had to dress like cowboys remember?”

“Yup, that’s it. Sweating those long cowboy shirts off, standing in boots all morning and the western hat to hold in all that darn griddle heat!”

“Yeah – you are forgetting those sexy red bandana aprons the 4-H kids made. We were ‘Cowboy Hooters’ at that point!”

“The crew looked silly, but you looked stupid Jeny – wearing all that and that red saddle coat on top. You always had the most energy – I never could figure that out.”

            “Mike?”

            “Yes?”

“I took the coat’s lining out and wore a two-piece swimsuit under that coat with boots so I would be cooler.”

            “That makes cowboy sense now.”

WE both start laughing very loud.

As our conversation wandered into the early morning hour, with laughter and memories of throwing pancakes at each other, I realized that both Mike and I were older now but still very young at heart. Someone that I worked several free pancake feeds with was on the other end of the line because he was human, he cared and he remembered. Mike was the guy that called each and every person to get them to sign up to help, he was there at the site before everybody else, he worked with the crew, he was the pancake syrup runner, he was the dishwasher, he was the last person to leave, he was crowd-pleaser (and controller), he was the one that called each and every person to thank them for showing up and he was the one that sent you a personal thank you note in the mail. Mike was the reason so many of us stumbled out of our beds at 4am to be knee-deep in pancakes by 6am and still going at 1pm with clean-up.

As our conversation wrapped up, Mike said:

“It’s been nice shooting the bull with you, Jeny but I called ‘cause I am not on that Face-thing and I need another way to report my hours for Moving Difference.”

            “Well, you email right?”

            “Yup.”

“Okay, well, just email them to me and I will post it on the Facebook site for you. It isn’t a problem, happy to do it.”

“That’s mighty kind of you, Jeny.”

“Really, no problem, Mike. Are you doing the pancake feed for the project?”

“Nope, stopped those years ago. I am 73 now and retired from pancakes.”

“Oh, what are you doing then?”

“It’s a special thing, Jeny. I want to be useful again as a cowboy.”

“Mike, you are always a cowboy.”

“True. I say, after reading your little article and you teaching chess, I thought of something that works for me to teach.”

“Really? That is cool – what?”

“Got new neighbors from Florida, they got two kids 11 and 13. Never rode a horse before. Real city kids stuck in their phones. Going to teach them how to ride a horse western and proper cowboy things. Talked with the kids’ mama before I called you, everything is set to start next week with them – an hour a week all summer long. She is mighty grateful, she is going to pay it forward too. She is going to give an hour a week at the library when I am teaching the kids. The dad is in the military, he’s going to volunteer at the VA when he can.”

My voice choked “That’s awesome Mike. Thank you.”

And Mike replied “No, Jeny, thank you. It’s what we need to do. People need to know people care.”

Wow was all I could think. We exchanged our emails, said our goodbyes and hung up.

I got up from the computer went and splashed some water on my face, it was 1:14am, and there are still 350+ emails to do. I grab a cup of ice water and head back to it.

Now it is 3:36 am, I am still buzzing from talking with Mike. I wrote this up and am half done on the emails answering personally and sincerely because I care, like Mike cares, like you care. We are all in it together. Moving Difference is about going that extra mile to make that difference no matter the time or age or the person and it is about being thankful. Now I am going to bed when I get the last email replied to in a few more hours until then –

            See you later…. Space Cowboys!

Off to an Amazing summer we go!!

The Highway Never Ends

Growing up I was a little country at heart. Meat and potatoes gal, I’ve ridden horses, bulls, done rodeos, live hard and attempted more than a few times to chance fate. I have drank way too much with the wrong crowd, got into fistfights, had too many cars that never worked, and I have stretched the truth a time or two.

A color character you might say, depending on which end of the mess you were on when I was growing up. I didn’t know then that some of the things I did might have been on the bit of unsavory side. I am sure that the statue of limitations has run out on most of the things that I have done, but I am still a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs when it comes to cops, lawyers and judges. Let’s call it a healthy respect and distance.

Nowadays, I am still a little country at heart but I like the Pogues, Haggard, Howard Jones and even Dead Can Dance. I eat meat and potatoes still, yet Thai food and Sushi happen too. I appreciate a good opera, I can create an app, I am slightly educated and I can now artfully hold my liquor and my tongue at the same time. I avoid fistfights for the most part now, believe in the “You get one strike before I am going to clean your clock” method and well, still having the same problem with the cars. As for the truth, honesty is the best policy. Time and wisdom has its advantages, they say.

So why tell you all this? I am pretty strong person. I do say person because that is what I am. A whole human being, always will be. Rarely anything stops me in my tracks with “I can’t believe this is happening” jaw drop moment and that just happened.

Let’s backtrack for a moment. I wasn’t a rebel, home life was hell and I escaped it every chance I got as a teenager. I was a teen that wasn’t a teen. There was a summer that I enhanced my age and got myself and a friend, Killer, summer jobs. Very awesome cool summer jobs! We were hired to sell T-shirts, before and after Willie Nelson concerts. Oh we thought we were kings!! Traveling and helping set-up – we knew all the songs, we loved it – and two young girls could up sell those shirts and hats and everything. Now I don’t want anybody doing this and I certainly don’t recommend “enhancing” your age, this was a different time and different place and it was stupid then too. But we travelled with the Willie Nelson band for 18 cities over one month and a half or so in mostly western states. We met Willie a few times, swapped tasteless jokes with the crew, sold tons of swag and got sunburn in places left unmentioned. I remember the night I got see all the signatures on Willie’s guitar. I was looking for one, Gene Autry’s.  Never found it but I was in awe that is there amongst the many. Now Willie is a hero but Gene Autry was king in my books (still is.) It was a great summer that ended when the VW bug died; we had to sell it for bus fares home thus ending our careers as future roadies. We sat for hours outside a truck stop by a long stretch of highway waiting for a Greyhound bus. There are a few pics from a film camera of the trip, mostly blurry and dog-eared. I laugh now in retrospect that when I arrived home, I got immediately in trouble for dragging dirt in on my shoes and not being a runaway for one month and change. But that was that experience and that was home life.

For a few times, Killer and I always made plans to see Willie when he was within 200 miles of us after that summer. And we always did until a drunk driver smashed his car into us on one of our adventures, killing my friend.  Within minutes on a long stretch of highway, she died as I tried to convince her to keep breathing while sobbing. It took forever to deal with the emotional pain of losing Killer, four surgeries and pins to fix the physical injuries to me from that day. We have just switched drivers not more than 8 miles before. It could have been me dead was something I dealt with for a long time. It was hard to listen to Willie after that for it was always memories of Killer. We had made plans to drive toTexasto his Fourth of July picnic that year, we never made it together.

Fast forward to 2009,Tama,Iowa– I decided to take the love of my life to a Willie Nelson concert. It was a nice evening on an Indian reservation and the music & memories flowed. I thought often about Killer, our days as future roadies and the long stretch of highway. I even purchase a CD, laughing at the fact, it was pretty young girls selling stuff. Zip another year forward to 2010, I find myself in Texas, less than twenty minutes away from The Backyard and the Willie Nelson Fourth of July Picnic. I wrestled with it, I didn’t want to dishonor Killer’s memory – something that we were supposed to do together. I decided that Killer being Killer would understand, I found an old Tasmanian Devil with angel wings pin that she had given me and wore it to the all-day picnic. Only punched one person (a drunk guy that wandered into the women’s restroom), drank a lot (of water!) and had a good time getting sunburned in places that are best left unmentioned. The drive home was on a long stretch of highway once again.

What could possible be a “I can’t believe this is happening” jaw drop moment from that? It is the text I received moments ago. It is Frog asking me if I am interested in volunteering at the First Annual Willie Nelson’s Golf  Tournament on a Saturday. It is helping four different charities in Texas and Frog knows I’m doing Moving Difference; he needs some help and wondering if I am interested. Frog doesn’t have a clue or know what you know from above, he just thought Hey I will ask her to come and help. Now it would be a drive for me, across a long stretch of highway. I can’t say no and I can’t say yes, I say maybe, need to think about it as I am stunned.  As I stare at the text with my jaw agape, I am reminded of a tune from Willie called The Highway from his A Horse Called Music album written by Tom Conner & Richard Wesley. It has perfectly haunting lyric in it with no truer words sung.

– “I’ve heard it all before and I’ll heard it all again, and I’ve heard it say the highway never ends.”

Time After Time

             Stop and think about time.

You and I have the same exact number of hours and minutes every day.

Pretty amazing huh? Nobody gets more, nobody gets less. People can’t buy time, they can’t borrow it either. Nobody can make more chemically and no one can save it in a jar. Nobody has created the famed “WayBack” machine of Mister Peabody and his boy Sherman.  Once time happens, it is spent.

In fact, we have the same exact number of hours in a week.

            168 hours to be exact– 24 hours x 7 days equals 168.

Out of 168 hours a week, where does the time go?

Job, commute, family, friends, errands and that precious sleep take most of it.

There always extras too – like television, eating, drinking, and cleaning.

So let’s talk about this 168. Everybody you and I know gets 168 hours per week period, we even get that same 168. The question comes down to out of that 168, can you spare 1 hour to make a difference? Can you spare 60 minutes to get out & move and do something towards making a difference? Do you have 3600 seconds to give of yourself?

When I break down the math and realize time is just an object that everybody gets, the excuses start to fall away. I can’t say to you I don’t have time to help, because it isn’t true. I have lots of time, the same amount of time that you do. We are equals in this time business and that makes us equals in the Moving Difference project.

We both have 168 hours per week, of which we can easily figure out a way to give an hour to get moving and making a difference. We both know that time is priceless. We both know that an hour isn’t a lot but it is something. We both know that while the rest of the 167 hours in the week may want that one hour, the ability to stop and give it freely makes a difference to us personally. We both know there is never a bad time to give our time. We both know the time is now.

Moving Difference is in part about using that knowledge of time, hour by hour, minute to minute, yes – it is also about us together in time making a difference. It is about one summer and how time every week made it an amazing summer. It is about one sunset in September that we will not let time forget. It is about time after time, how we together can move and make a difference.

In that spirit, should you need assistance with the Moving Difference project, I always have the time and my door is open. I am looking forward to it and I will help as much as I can, always.

“Much may be done in those little shreds and patches of time which every day produces, and which most men throw away.” ~Charles Caleb Colton

Here’s a picture of our clock – Looking forward to our time together!

Turning a negative into a positive.

Hey – It is ten days before the kick off of Moving Difference – I am so excited and a bit nervous too.

I want to start strong, wonderful and bold. I want the perfect summer and the best sunset right now!

Of course, that isn’t happening today, so instead I decided to go through a knickknacks box that has been seeking my attention.

To my surprise, I found something that stops me in my tracks – my first pair of glasses. I don’t wear them anymore and they are just stuff in a box that I for one reason or another decided that I have to keep to torture myself.

Yup, I wore glasses as a teenager – Still do as an adult.

These were the most-hated pair in the world. Missing is the center black piece to help correct a lazy eye.

Did I mention that I HATED these glasses?

Boy, I was teased, picked on and called some names. I tried everything I could think of to destroy them or not to wear them.

It never worked. It was always been a negative thing ’cause my eyes were too dry for contacts and not eligible for laser. I had to wear glasses!

Thinking back having glasses was the end of the world for me as a teenager. It is horrible. Okay probably not horrible, but terrible and horrific!! (Remember I am a teenager here!!)

Then I started to think about it today.

These glasses were negative when I was a teenager, can I make them a positive as an adult?

The thing is I can – as a person and as part of Moving Difference.

See, these glasses are ready to make a positive difference. They already pre-teased in my mind, they have endured all the teasing a pair of glasses needs to. They have lived through several attempts to damage them including but not limited to driving over them and the blender. They are survivors of some of the worst fistfights and snowball fights on earth. These glasses are the Green Berets of glasses and they are ready!!

How though? I looked up glasses recycling and found that the Lions do this wonderful program!! Eyeglass Recycling

I even enjoy their little slide show about “The Journey of a Pair of Glasses”

It was easy from there to decide. Basically, these glasses have a better life waiting for them instead of in my knickknack box with a negative vibe.

Now, my first pair of glasses are by the door to be mail to the Lion’s Eyeglass Recycling center tomorrow (they also have drop-off centers in many areas on their web site)

Ironically, I am sad to see them go at this point but I know that I am making a difference with even the most hated pair of glasses. Maybe you have a few pairs that would like to join them?

Turning a negative into a positive that is what life is all about.

Let the good vibes of the summer start!!

Welcome to the beginning……

Moving Difference Summer 2012

The Goal: One Amazing Summer 2012!!

The Plan: From June 20, 2012 to September 21, 2012, with our friends and family & your friends and family, we become a Moving Difference. On September 21, 2012, no matter where in the world we are, we all watch that sunset together.

What is a Moving Difference? Glad you ask. It is spending at least an hour a week all summer long getting out there and moving to help someone or something in your community. It is picking up trash at the park, it is reading books to sick kids, it is handing water out to the homeless, it is gathering a group of friends to paint over graffiti, it is finally cleaning out that monster of a closet and get those clothes to charity, it is volunteering with your group or church, it is planting some flowers for an older neighbor, it is making dinner for a shut-in, it is walking dogs at the shelter, it is a garage sale with proceeds going to charity, it is anything and everything that gets you out moving and helping your community in any form or fashion.

How do I do Moving Difference?       Easy!

               •              Join the Moving Difference on Facebook. This is your way to connect with people like you wanting to be a Moving Difference. It will have tips, suggestions and fun items for the entire summer. There is both a Moving Difference Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Moving-Difference/457038127655525) to like as well as a Moving Difference Facebook Group to join (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/groups/260887837341921/ ).

               •              Pick something that you want to do in your community to help out. Commit to doing it at least an hour a week or 12 hours over this summer. You can do the same thing all summer or 12 different things. The choice of what to do is completely yours! (If you need help picking something, just ask!)

               •              Then DO IT!! Get out there and become that Moving Difference. Even invite some of your friends and family to join you when you do the Moving Difference activity.

               •              And of course, when you have done it – come back to the Moving Difference on Facebook and tell us what you did! This way everybody’s hours get logged and we can all inspire each other to get out there. You can even post an “action” photo!!

               •              Aren’t on Facebook? That’s cool, you can follow Moving Difference on twitter (@movingdifferenc) or be part of the action with https://movingdifference.wordpress.com or even email us at movingdifference@yahoo.com.

What’s the result? If everything goes as planned, together we will have done 1000 hours of Moving Difference (or maybe more depending on how many people get involved!)- Think about it – 1000 hours of actually helping our communities, preventing just another “boring” summer, getting out there are moving ourselves (despite the hot and sticky) and we will have enjoyed one amazing summer together and one perfect sunset!! That is pretty cool!!

Can I invite my friends and families get involved in the Moving Difference? YES and please!!  Everybody is welcomed to be a Moving Difference. Please help us to help get the word out on this awesome project!! This project is truly about sharing the experience of getting out there and moving and being part of the world.

What about this sunset thing?  It is a sweet way to end being part of Moving Difference and the Summer 2012! This will be an once-in-a-lifetime sunset!  No matter where in the world you are, stopping and enjoying the sunset of September 21, 2012. It’s the last day of summer and the perfect way to reflect on an amazing project that we all did together.

Other stuff to know: It seems simple because it is. This isn’t a corporate ad trick, bleeding hearts pleads or anything like that. It is just humans, in our own little way trying to do our little part and make the world a better place. We aren’t asking for the moon or your money, we are inviting you to spend some of your time to be a difference with us by moving. An hour a week for twelve weeks means 83 people like you and us can easily do a 1000 hours!! And we know life happens, so if you can’t do one week, do it the next – just keep moving and just keep being a difference.

And one other thing: We know that money is tight, times are tough for many people and we appreciate you simply taking the time. Whatever you do as part of Moving Difference over this summer, THANKS!!
