After Midnight – The start of the MDY3

At midnight sharp begins MDY3

And if you have not started – well start!!!

To kick things off, listen to the very talented Scottish Rocker Maggie Bell singing After Midnight….

And with reason, I will actually be up at midnight my time and talking over the airwaves in Scotland – Edinburgh to be exact…. (I will post the link to the radio station on Twitter!)

See Moving Difference is over there as well, there are a bunch of people (last number was 2000+) that are kicking off Moving Difference by an entire day of volunteering for various charities….

and I hear that they have a pile of questions, laughs and stories to tell me and everybody listening…. it should be a great time….

What is happening after that you ask, well, depending on the time, I am going for a little 8 mile walk and then the MDY3 staff takes over and everybody is out and about in several different states helping at a food bank, pet shelter, homeless youth safe place and a children’s hospital – until roughly 5pm and then we are going to drop in on some people that inspire us too with some cookies and cards- either nursing home or veterans homes or the hospital before going home to see all the emails about what you lovely people did on the first day of MDY3!!

It is only fitting that the first day of MDY3 is a 24 hour day for me, I wouldn’t have it any other way…. 🙂

midnight

Until the clock strikes, midnight, – be good to yourself….

A promise I can’t take back

359

Life is an awesome journey.
Reality of it is very short.
There are insects and cockroaches in this world that are older than Grandmother.
Yup, older than that.

Still every day we complain, whine and be a general bother not realizing that moments of life are whizzing past.

Interesting enough, nature doesn’t stop to hear our bitterness, it just keeps growing. Under, over and through.

It is Sunday afternoon, it has been a long hard hot weekend for me. I do have blisters, sunburn, several thousands in unread emails, and the knowledge that tomorrow is July 1 with all the deadlines of it due.

Then I saw these mushrooms and realized a promise I can’t take back within their simple beauty.

Sure, I am a “fungi” just like the next person, but the promise of helping people help people is deeper than all of my life’s work, even the emails and sunburn.

These mushrooms are gathered to do a job, it isn’t a pretty job, but they break through and do it anyways. They are a community and they are committed to their world and to making it a better place…. a promise to keep growing and going forward…..

Moving Difference is a promise you can’t take back from yourself. It is about who you are and what you do. And about how you keep going….

So with that, I look forward to an evening of reading your emails, writing back and keep going….tomorrow is a new day!!

and I hope that you realize that you are an amazing person and loved…… even if you are tired, hot and sick of summer already….
